KPG SIMPLIFIES COLOUR PROOFING WITH A NEW SWOP® CERTIFIED TURNKEY INKJET PROOFING SYSTEM

Antony, France, 10 January 2004: Composed of a printer, software and media, the Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) Matchprint ProofPro 2610 Proofing System makes colour proofing easy and affordable.

KPG today announced the availability worldwide of the new Matchprint ProofPro 2610 Proofing System. The SWOP certified Matchprint ProofPro 2610 Proofing System includes the Matchprint ProofPro RIP v1.0, the Matchprint ProofPro 2610 printer and specially formulated Matchprint ProofPro Inkjet inks. The system also comes with a stand, a three year on-site warranty and a roll of Matchprint ProofPro Inkjet Media. All components of the Matchprint ProofPro 2610 Proofing System are uniquely matched to minimize troubleshooting or experimenting.

Working together, the components of the Matchprint ProofPro 2610 Proofing System produce 4-up proofs in less than 16 minutes with industry leading accuracy. These proofs last up to 30 days in office lighting with less than 2 delta E shift in colour. Additionally, the system features KPG colour technology to ensure accuracy down to the smallest image detail.

The Matchprint ProofPro RIP Version 1.0 drives the entire system. First shown at this year's drupa, the software features an Adobe interpreter for more consistency and compatibility across a variety of workflows. The Matchprint ProofPro RIP v1.0 also features improved management of spot colours and a more powerful linearisation system for greater proofing accuracy. Like its predecessors, the Matchprint ProofPro RIP v1.0 features KPG's proprietary Colour Fidelity Module colour management software and Matchprint profiles to ensure more accurate colour reproduction across a variety of tonal ranges to express the smallest details accurately.

Matchprint ProofPro 2610 Proofing System includes the new Matchprint ProofPro 2610 printer. This 24" (610 mm) printer is extremely versatile. It prints images up to 24" wide including full colour pages, two and four page press sheets, and banner style pieces. The Matchprint ProofPro 2610 printer features six colour printing technology and a four picoliter drop size for outstanding proof quality for both images and text.

Bringing the proofs to life are the Matchprint ProofPro Inks/Dye and Matchprint ProofPro Inkjet Media. Formulated for longevity and colour trueness for proofing applications, the six colour dye based Matchprint ProofPro Inks/Dye resist fading and provide accurate colour reproduction, good colour stability and smooth gradations. Additionally, the inks feature denser blacks that further improve colour reproduction. Matchprint ProofPro Inkjet Media is designed to ensure the highest quality inkjet proof possible with the Matchprint ProofPro 2610 Proofing System. This media is a robust 225g (8.8 mil) and features the Matchprint backprint for an expensive look and feel. The media undergoes rigorous testing to ensure consistency and quality. It delivers proofs that dry instantly and are colour stable with Matchprint ProofPro Inks. Offered in a semi-matte finish, the Matchprint ProofPro Inkjet Media is available in rolls and sheets in three tints: SuperWhite, Commercial and Publication.
