Kodak Polychrome Graphics at IPEX 2002
Hall 4 Stand 380
Proofing - An Integrated Solution
Following the acquisition of the Imation Colour Technologies portfolio and the UK launch of Kodak Polychrome Graphics' (KPG) First Check Desktop Proofing System, IPEX 2002 is a showcase of truly integrated proofing solutions from KPG. With proofing systems encompassing digital and analogue, inkjet and desktop and contractual and positional needs, KPG is demonstrating that it is open to customer requirements and will define future needs and trends through listening to customers at the show.
Kodak Approval XP4 Digital Halftone Proofing System
The Kodak Approval XP4 Digital Halftone Colour Proofing system, showing on KPG's main stand 4/380, continues to prove itself in the marketplace and maintains its reputation as the fastest, most productive digital halftone colour proofing system available at 16 pages per hour.
The ability of the Kodak Approval XP4 to be driven by a variety of digital workflow systems means more efficient and faster production of proofs in a wider range of applications. The Kodak Approval XP4 remains the only colour proofing system that allows the operator to specify and set densities of the individual colours. This control over density and dot gain means that virtually any press condition can be finger printed so giving an accurate prediction of press result, producing a halftone proof in exactly the same way as an image recorder or CtP device.
Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System
On the Creo stand, KPG is demonstrating the Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing (MDHT) system with a Creo Quantum Spectrum. The only digital halftone proofing system into its third generation, it is the most accurate, consistent and productive proofer of its kind, available in B2 to B1 format. MDHT uses a common RIP with the platesetter. This ensures the proof has the same dots and screening as the plate, reflecting the exact contents of the digital file. This allows moiré to be predicted and trappings and overprints to be accurately rendered.
With the third generation comes enhanced colours that deliver a broader colour gamut. GAMUTec Gen lll new formulation receptor and donors enable easier handling and less waste, and the capability to transfer to a wider range of stocks than ever before. Currently there are 20 installations in the UK and over 450 worldwide.
Matchprint Inkjet for Large Format Ink Jet Proofers
KPG is demonstrating the Matchprint Inkjet which drives a large range of large format proofers, it consists of a RIP, profiles and Matchprint media. This software provides advanced functionality and colour control, supporting the Hewlett Packard DesignJet 2000CP, 2500CP and 5000 together with the Epson Stylus Pro 7000, 9000 and 10000.
Matchprint Colour RIP version 2.5 software combines the KPG Colour Fidelity Module (CFM) with Best RIP, giving significantly improved colour accuracy. The capability to show traps and overprints enables the identification of colour and design errors early in the production cycle. The specially formulated base materials used together with the software and profiles deliver a high quality proof that simulates the traditional Matchprint colour standard.
Matchprint Professional Server
The Matchprint Professional Server has recently been enhanced with the introduction of version 2.0 software, which adds further support for the Xerox DocuColor 12 LP Printer. On show on the KPG, Xerox and Litho Supplies stands, the output speed and flexibility of the Matchprint Professional Server together with the Xerox DocuColor 12 is a must see for users who require high quality proofs and prints.
First Check Desktop Proofing System
Making its UK debut is KPG's First Check Desktop Proofing System. This easy to use high quality proofing system has been designed for use within the commercial, design and packaging markets. In addition to the process colours of cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK), the First Check proofer can print orange, green, spot black, opaque white, gold and silver foils, gold and silver metallics and a finish coat, on a variety of substrates. Proofing media include four papers (standard commercial, high-quality commercial, matte, and publication), a transfer film, and a shrink-wrap film. Standard media size is 13"x19".
