KPG ANNOUNCES LATEST SWOP CERTIFICATIONS FOR ITS MATCHPRINT LINE OF PROOFING SYSTEMS
Certifications Confirm KPG as the Leading Provider of SWOP-Certified Proofing Systems
Norwalk, Connecticut, USA -Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) Matchprint Inkjet Proofing System has earned certification as a SWOP® (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) Certified Proofing System. KPG also announced today that the Kodak Polychrome Graphics Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System has received SWOP re-certification. With these announcements, KPG's full line of commercial proofing systems has received SWOP certification. KPG offers seven SWOP-certified systems, the most of any proofing company.
"SWOP certification helps provide customers with the confidence they need that KPG offers the most accurate and consistent color proofing solutions," said Rob Pipe, Worldwide Product Manager, Color Proofing, KPG. "KPG is committed to providing printing and graphic arts professionals with products that perform to the highest industry standards."
Whether using analog technology or the newest digital printing applications, KPG offers proofing solutions for a wide variety of applications and needs. In addition to the Matchprint Inkjet Proofing System and Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System, the following KPG systems that have received SWOP certification: Matchprint Virtual Proofing System, Matchprint Analog Negative Color Proofing System, Matchprint Analog Positive Color Proofing System, Matchprint Professional Server with Xerox DocuColor 12 color printer, and the Kodak Approval Digital Color Proofing System.
The Matchprint Inkjet system is comprised of Matchprint Inkjet Proofer Models 5042/5542/5060/5560, the Matchprint Color RIP, Matchprint Inkjet ink and associated Matchprint Inkjet media. The Matchprint Inkjet System is the fastest, high quality large format proofing system available today and enables users to create fast, affordable high quality inkjet proofs for use in the creative and production process. The Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System is an IR thermal digital halftone system that uses a common RIP for plates and proofing, ensuring identical screening on the proof and the plate.
To be considered for the SWOP Certification Mark for off-press proofing systems, manufacturers provide directions for producing proofs as closely as possible to the appearance of the SWOP Certified Press Proof as defined in ANSI CGATS TR 001, "Graphic Technology-Color Characterization Data for Type 1 Printing." A visual match to TR 001 is evaluated for SWOP certification, because it has been determined to be more effective than a strict numeric match to the press sheet.
