Using the Front Panel

How do I Navigate the Front Panel of my Proofer?

  • The Top button returns you to the 1st level without saving any changes.
  • The Back button returns you to the previous menu level without saving any changes.
  • The arrow keys (↑↓) are used to scroll up and down through the menus choices.
  • The Enter key is used to move to the next menu level and change the printer's configuration to the highlighted menu item indicated with a check mark.
  • The ... characters in a menu box indicate that another menu level is available.

How do I View IP, Mask, GW and LG Addresses?

  • 2.1. At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • 2.2. Using the arrow keys, select I/O Setup and press Enter.
  • 2.3. Using the arrow keys, select Card ID and press Enter. The current default IP, Mask, GW and LG addresses will be displayed.

How do I set the IP, Mask, GW and LG Addresses

  • Make sure your printer is cabled for network connections before continuing. Use the hardware Setup Instructions provided with your printer.
  • If your printer is directly connected and not part of a network configuration, skip this section and go directly to Adding Media Profiles.
  • Contact your system administrator to obtain the new IP, Mask, Gateway (GW) and LG addresses for this printer. The IP address should be a "static" address. (A static address is one that does not change if the system is rebooted.)
  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select I/O Setup, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow key to select Card Setup, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow key to select Configuration, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow key to locate CFG Network = No. Press Enter.
  • Use the up arrow (↑) to toggle No to Yes, then press Enter to accept the setting. (An asterisk * appears when set.)
  • Use the up arrow (↑) to locate CFG TCP/IP = No. Press Enter.
  • Use the up arrow (↑) to toggle No to Yes, then press Enter to accept the setting. (An asterisk * appears when set.)
  • Use the up arrow (↑) to locate BootP = No. If BootP = Yes, press Enter. Use the up arrow (↑) to toggle Yes to No, then press Enter to accept the setting. (An asterisk * appears when set.)
  • Use the up arrow (↑) to locate DHCP = No. If DHCP = Yes, press Enter. Use the up arrow (↑) to toggle Yes to No, then press Enter to accept the setting. (An asterisk * appears when set.) Note: The DHCP parameter sets the IP address as static.
  • Press the up arrow (↑). The IP address byte 1 appears. Press Enter.
  • Use the arrows to increment or decrement the byte 1 address to the address provided by your system administrator.
  • When the correct number is reached, press Enter to accept the setting.
  • Continue altering IP bytes, as well as Subnet Mask, GW, and LG bytes by repeating steps 14 through 16. Note: If you go back to the top, verify the final settings are correct using tip 2.
  • Press 'Back' once, then 'Top' to return to main menu.

Final parameter settings are:

    CFG Network = Yes
    CGF TCP/IP = Yes
    BOOTP = No
    DHCP = No

How can I Turn the Cutter On and Off?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Device Setup, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Cutter = On (Off), press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the desired setting, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

Can you set the Set the Page Size from the Front Panel?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Page Format, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Size, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Software, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

How do I align the printheads?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Utilities, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Calibrations, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Printhead Alignment, press Enter.
  • When the alignment is finished, the panel will return to the main menu.

Can I keep track of my printer usage?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Utilities, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Usage, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Print Usage or View Usage, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

Is it possible to Print the Menu Tree?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Demos, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Menu, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

Note: The Menu Tree will scale to fit the width of whatever paper is loaded into the printer. The height is roughly twice the width, so you may want to use the thinnest roll available or cut a sheet about 18" wide.

How can I check my Ink Levels?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Cartridge Menu icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the desired color, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

How do I change an ink cartridge?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Cartridge Menu icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Replace Ink Cartridge, press Enter.
  • Follow pages 75 through 78 in the Pocket Guide to complete the procedure.
  • The front panel will return to the main Cartridge Menu when done.

How can I check on my Printhead status?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printhead Menu icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Printhead Info, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select desired color, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

How do I recover my Printheads?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printhead Menu icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Recover Printhead, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select desired color, press Enter.
  • After recovering, the front panel will return to the main Printhead Menu.

How do I replace my Printheads?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printhead Menu icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Replace Printhead, press Enter.
  • Follow pages 81 through 93 in the pocket guide to complete the procedure.
  • After replacing, the front panel will return to the main Printhead Menu.

How do I perform a test print?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Utilities, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Test Prints, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the test print you want to run, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

How do I change the drying time setting?

  • At the printer front panel, select the Printer icon and press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Device Setup, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Drying Time, press Enter.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the drying time setting you want, press Enter.
  • Press Top to return to main menu.

Can I set up my printer to work in draft/high speed mode?

    Yes, In Matchprint Color RIP right click on the job queue you want to set up for draft printing and select "Job Settings". In the Color Management tab click "settings". In the parameter window click new and enter the name of your new dataset "Matchprint 5042 - New".

    Click OK, select the resolution 600 x 600, the Matchprint Dye Ink and the paper type KPG Matchprint Super White Design Base. In the next window select the icc profile "MP 5042_MP_Des_600dpi_fast.icc". Click OK. Activate color management in the parameters window and select your reference profile and perform a printer linearisation if required. Click apply, click OK. You are now ready to print in draft mode.
