NEW KPG DIRECT IMAGING PRESS GIVES CUSTOMERS ANOTHER OPTION IN TRANSITION FROM ANALOG TO DIGITAL WORKFLOWS

The DirectPress 5034 DI system combines quality of offset with speed and automation of digital

Norwalk, Connecticut, USA - The new Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) direct imaging press is now available to customers in the United States and Canada (US&C). KPG today announced the full commercialization of the KPG DirectPress 5034 DI system, a two-page, four-color digital imaging press. The DirectPress 5034 DI system adds a third and powerful option to KPG's current computer-to-plate (CtP) and digital printing product portfolio for customers making the transition from analog to digital workflows.

Manufactured to KPG specifications, the KPG DirectPress 5034 DI system combines the quality advantages of offset printing with the workflow and automation benefits of digital printing. This combination presents a new growth opportunity for commercial printers, trade shops, or digital service bureaus that want to tap into the growing demand for high-quality, quick-turnaround, short-run, four-color work.

"Our customers are looking for ways to grow their business and increase their profits," said John Schloff, KPG Worldwide Staff Vice President. "The KPG DirectPress 5034 DI system allows them to capture jobs they are missing today, and cut costs on current projects."

The KPG DirectPress 5034 DI system is powered by Presstek's proprietary ProFire™ imaging and thermal plate technology. KPG entered into a relationship with Presstek (Nasdaq: PRST) in March to expand the direct digital imaging market in the United States and Canada.
