NEW KPG DIRECTPRESS 5634 DI SYSTEM SUPPORTS STOCHASTIC SCREENING, ADDS WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT TOOL
System enhances quality and productivity of direct imaging technology
Norwalk, Connecticut, USA - The latest direct imaging press from Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) allows commercial printers, trade shops and digital service bureaus to deliver enhanced image quality and a greater number of short run, fast turnaround color jobs per shift.
The new KPG DirectPress 5634 DI System combines industry leading image quality with the simplicity and automation of a DI Press. The KPG DirectPress 5634 DI System further enhances efficiency through the new Kodak Polychrome Graphics DirectWorks, KPG's first workflow software. Orders for the DirectPress 5634 system are being taken immediately, with installations beginning in July.
The DirectPress 5634 system increases print quality by supporting 16-micron spot diameters for FM stochastic screening and also prints in high line AM and hybrid screening. With the DirectPress 5634 system, industry leading four-color printing can now be delivered with the ease and automation of a DI press.
By integrating KPG color, the DirectWorks software enables color management across a variety of technologies to deliver more accurate and consistent color. The DirectWorks technology streamlines operations by automating prepress activities such as pre-flight, correct, trapping, imposition, approval and ripping.
"The DirectPress 5634 system with DirectWorks software, which combines 300-linescreen offset quality with the simplicity of a digital workflow, is a huge leap forward for the industry," says John Schloff, Vice President, Digital Printing and Color, KPG. "The introduction of a second direct imaging press reflects KPG's commitment to continually expanding and enhancing our portfolio of digital output solutions. The breadth of these offerings, combined with our color and workflow expertise, uniquely positions KPG to assist customers in their transition from traditional to digital workflows."
The DirectPress 5634 system runs SunChemical / DIC waterless inks. At drupa, the DirectPress 5634 system will be running the DIC Dri-O-Color Artis series of inks, especially suited for this type of application.
