KPG DONATES DIGITAL PROOFING EQUIPMENT TO CENTRAL MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY

Norwalk, Connecticut, USA - Continuing its investment in the education of graphic arts students, Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) recently donated a KPG Matchprint Professional Server digital printing system to Central Missouri State University (CMSU). The equipment was provided by KPG’s Oakdale laboratory, which used the system for testing of the server software and consumables.

“The key to the future of the printing industry is support for education from the graphic arts industry as a whole, including the manufacturers and suppliers,” said Dave Barabas, Graphic Arts Program Coordinator, CMSU. “We believe education takes place both in a classroom setting and a hands-on laboratory environment. Having access to technology such as the KPG Matchprint Professional Server digital printing system allows the impressionable student to get a realistic taste of what the graphic arts industry is all about.”

The Matchprint Professional Server digital printing system enables content creators, prepress and print professionals to produce high quality comps and proofs that consistently and accurately simulate Matchprint color proofing systems.

“It is important for students to experience working with the technology they will encounter once they enter the workforce,” said Rick Mazur, Vice President of Marketing, KPG. “We’re glad we can contribute to the future of the graphic arts industry through providing the equipment students need.”

The Matchprint Professional Server digital printing system will allow additional instruction in digital color proofing and short run color duplication at CMSU. Using this equipment in conjunction with the other proofing devices available to them, students will gain experience with device calibration and color management. Before receiving KPG’s donation, CMSU’s digital proofing capabilities were limited to inkjet and sublimation proofing or common color laser proofs.

Barabas and his colleague, Barry Wilson, an instructor at CMSU, visited KPG’s Oakdale laboratory and went through half a day of hands-on training with KPG before taking the equipment back to the university.

KPG provides a broad range of digital, conventional and business solutions to graphic arts colleges and universities across the United States, including Arizona State University, California Polytechnic State University, Clemson University, Rochester Institute of Technology and Central Missouri State University. KPG’s donations are tailored to each school’s particular programs and needs.
